Memorial Weekend

I love 3 day weekends! My parents kept Sage last night, so Scott and I went to Porters for some yummy food. I was starving by the time we got there. I drank that delicious lemon drop and I was full on drunk! I couldn't see straight. Goes to show that I don't drink much. After dinner, dessert, and a long walk when we got home, I was finally sobered up. Wow! Great food though and obviously great drinks. On the way out to my parents house, we stopped and took pictures in a wildflower field. It was really sunny, so there are lots of shadows, but I just love the look of the beautiful flowers and the beautiful girl. To my friends who like to try new recipes...I just found the greatest website. Look at foodgawker.com. I am loving it! Lots of new recipes to try.

Bye Bye Beepie

Everyday when I make Sage's bed, I ask her if she is ready to give her beeps (her pacifiers) to a newborn baby who needs them. Everyday she tells me, "no mom, I'm still a baby". Yesterday morning I asked her and I got the usual response. Right afterwards she told me she wanted to go to the toy store. I told her if she threw all her beeps in the garbage, we could go to the toy store. She gathered each and every one of them up and tossed them in the garbage. She said goodbye with big tears in her eys (and honestly, big tears in mine). Off to Toys R Us and $60 later, we are "beep" free. She slept fine last night without them. I am finding myself oddly heartbroken.

Planting

We spent some time this last week planting a tomato plant and a lemon cucumber plant. We bought those hanging planters to grow them in. We planted strawberries a few weeks ago, and they are starting to sprout. We also filled our planter in the front yard with flowers. I'm not a huge gardener (I actually expect everything to die), but hopefully we'll have some success. Scott went on a guided fishing trip yesterday on the coast. He came home with a 25 pound halibut! We had the best dinner tonight with it. I seasoned it with fresh garlic, olive oil, kosher salt, course pepper, and red pepper flakes. Baked it for 25 minutes. It was so good! We will be enjoying it frequently, I'm sure, since we have TONS in the freezer now.

Sunny Days

Oh, how we love our sunny days. Brought out the little splash pool the other day. It was a huge hit! This last week was so busy for us. I went to Portland with my girlfriend Alison last weekend, so the rest of the week was spent playing catch up on everything. The weekend away without Scott and Sage was wonderful and just what I needed. It was great to catch up with my friend. We stayed right downtown and walked everywhere we wanted to go. I decided that I wasn't taking my camera with me. I just wanted a break from it all. I will admit, that was a decision I regretted during some of the weekend. Cirque Du Soleil, Powell's Books, Brunch at The Benson, and dinner at The Melting Pot were among our hightlights. I stopped at the Coach outlet on my way home and picked out my "Mother's Day Gift". It is big, leather, and YELLOW. I love it. Happy Mother's Day to all my mother friends!
