Newport

We're back from our vacation to Newport. We had so much fun. It was our first time to Newport and I thought it was so magical. We had a great week.
Sage on the beach. She had tons of fun building a sandcastle with her cousin Megan.
Looking at crabs at the aquarium. They were the creepiest crabs ever. You can't really tell from the picture, but they were huge. The one in this picture kept following Sage along the tank. She was yelling "He's following me". These are the kind of crabs that nightmares are made of.

Cool girl with her sunglasses.

This was at the interpretive center at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It was so windy at the lighthouse and beach, that Sage didn't enjoy it at all. She was very happy to be back in the center where she could color and explore inside.

Me and my baby.

She spent the entire afternoon with her head on Scott's shoulders becuase of the wind. It was blowing a good 35 MPH. It was not pleasant at all. It was a beautiful lighthouse and beach though.

Possible, my favorite picture of the trip. She's copying her dad, who is cleaning the sand out of his shoes.

The house we rented with Scott's sister and her family. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach and to this great little historic district called Nye Beach.
I'll post more pictures this week. We took TONS of photos.

New Camera

Well, I finally made the leap and bought a Canon Rebel XSI. Now, I need to learn how to use it. I'm starting Karen Russell's photography class August 14. It is two months long. I was 650th on the wait list for the class (yes, 650 th!). I was lucky enough to get a space in the class during an open registration for wait list people. I am so unbelievably excited.

The above picture is my favorite so far with the new camera.

Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July weekend. We are going to the lake on Saturday with friends, a bbq at my parents house on Sunday (those delicious razor clams again), and Monday (Scott is off on Monday) we will just relax and catch up on sleep and housework.

Kayaks, Lake, and Cheese

We bought a blow up kayak to toodle around the lake in. Sage wouldn't get near it and totally flipped out when we tried to put her new Dora the Explorer life jacket on her. We'll keep working on it.
Scott's sister Stacy, her husband Duane, and their son Reid stopped by on their way to Roseburg. We spent a few hours at Lost Creek Lake.

Sage with Stacy and Reid.

She played for five hours straight on the beach. We were able to relax while she played. It was wonderful.

Running to the lake.

This is her "cheese" smile.

Playing in the kayak while it was in the living room.
Swim lessons are going better. Not great, but better. She was really good last Monday (but I did bribe her with candy and a toy).
On a sadder note, my grandfather passed away on Tuesday. He was surrounded by family when he passed. He was 86 years old and I like to think that he had a really good run.
Sage is staying with my parents this weekend, so Scott and I can celeberate our anniversary (14 years!).

Swim Lessons

So, the swim lessons were a bust. She SCREAMED at the top of her lungs for the entire half hour. Wait, I take that back. She was quiet for maybe 5 minutes, when I finally let her sit on the edge of the pool. It was humiliating, exhausting, and I felt terribly for Sage. The lessons must continue though. The kid needs to learn to swim. We were driving away, after the lesson, and she said to me.."mommy..that was really fun". We must have been in two different places, because no fun was had!

Applegate Lake

We went to Applegate Lake yesterday to enjoy our fabulous weather. It was Sage's first time at a lake.

This is as far as she would go in.....feet only & no splashing allowed. I'm hoping she'll be more adventurous as she gets more used to the water.

This is the smile we get when she says "cheese"

We start swim lessons tomorrow....should be interesting considering Sage HATES the water. I'm trying to be positive though....hopefully we won't get kicked out.

Mother's Day

We went out to my parents house today. My dad made one of my very favorite things....Razor Clams! They are so delicious. We usually buy them when we go out to eat at McGraths. It was our first time having my Dad's and they were even better. Sage LOVES going to my parents house. The weather was so beautiful today. She spent the entire day out on their patio.
Her favorite activity of the day was watering Pop Pop's lawn and Boo Boo's rocks.

She gave me a lady bug flag for Mother's Day that she picked out all by herself. She was so proud this morning. We have a flagpole that is out on the front of our house. It looks wonderful flying there.

Lots Of Pictures

We've been enjoying some really nice weather here. We play out on our patio daily. Lots of ball, climbing, water stuff, & play-doh.

Feeding the goats at our local petting zoo. She loved it, but they were pretty pushy, so I had to watch and make sure they didn't bite her.

She rode a pony! I was so proud.
Our conversations are getting better everyday. We went to the park yesterday and there were lots of planes flying overhead. She loves to look at them and scream HI to the people on the planes. When we got home, she told her dad that she jumped up and pulled a plane out the sky with her arms because she is very strong. Where does she come up with this stuff?
